Short Story Never Let Me Go - 1221 Words

Character List Kathy: Kathy starts off the book as an adult in her 30’s working as a carer because she is a clone that was cloned to get her vital organs taken out of her when she reaches adulthood like all the others on Hailsham. The story follow Kathy through her childhood and showed how she was a gentle, laid back, and a compassionate person. Tommy: Tommy D. is another student who attended Hailsham and like Kathy and Ruth is a clone that has to donate his organs when he reaches adulthood. As a kid he is very immature and has a short temper resulting in†¦show more content†¦She as well as her boyfriend, Rodney, are always asking about Hailsham and even took Kathy, Ruth and Tommy to find Ruth’s â€Å"possible.† Rodney: Rodney also is a veteran at the Cottages who is said to be a handsome guy and is in a relationship with Chrissie. He too is very interested in Hailsham and since he could drive he and Chrissie took Kathy, Ruth and Tommy to find Ruth’s â€Å"possible.† Plot Summary The book begins with Kathy H. in her 30’s. She is a carer in which she takes care of people who are identified as â€Å"donors† after they have given a donation. Because of her job as a carer, she finds herself joined by two of her former friends named Ruth and Tommy. It was their time to become donors and have their vital organs removed from their bodies because of their purpose as clones. Kathy takes the reader back to her childhood in Hailsham and explained what life was like, this included different guardians who had different views of clones, for example Miss Lucy believed that the children should be informed of their futures while Miss Emily believed they should be treated like humans until it’s time for their donations. Art was cherished at Hailsham and was collected by Madame for her â€Å"gallery† to show that the clones had souls.
